Prince William Zeroes In on Transportation Sector’s Role in Combatting Wildlife Crime

08 December 2014 | World Wildlife News Release

In response to Prince William, Duke of Cambridge’s announcement of the launch of United for Wildlife’s Transportation Task Force at today’s World Bank anti-corruption conference, World Wildlife Fund (WWF) released the following statement from Senior Vice President for Wildlife Conservation Ginette Hemley:

“The launch of the Transportation Task Force zeroes in on how illegal wildlife products move from the field to the market. By clamping down on the transport of illegal wildlife products, we can break the chain between poachers and consumers. This is a call to transportation sector leaders, especially those in the airline and shipping industries, to proactively adopt policies to keep wildlife crime out of their operations.

“We are honored to continue our partnership with United for Wildlife in this collaborative effort and commend Prince William for his commitment to bring attention to the global crisis of wildlife crime.”
